This week, IBiS (Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla) is hosting the second training school for European neurology specialists IMMUPARKNET, a project focused on studying the immune system in Parkinson’s disease.

This event, taking place on 9 and 10 April 2026 at the Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS), brings together clinical and research professionals interested in developing observational studies on this neurodegenerative condition.

The initiative, organised by the framework of European COST scientific cooperation actions, aims primarily to train participants in the design and implementation of clinical research examining the role of the immune system in Parkinson’s disease.

During the sessions, attendees will address key issues such as patient selection, study design, the use of neuroinflammation biomarkers, neuroimaging techniques, and the analysis of biological samples. In addition, the programme includes sessions dedicated to understanding the interaction between the immune system and the brain, as well as current challenges in clinical research on this disease.

The training is mainly aimed at professionals in the field of neurology, although it is also open to basic scientists interested in translational research, thereby fostering collaboration across disciplines.

The IMMUPARKNET project, active since 2022, seeks to promote a multidisciplinary network in Europe to advance understanding of Parkinson’s disease from an immunological perspective, encouraging knowledge exchange and the development of new therapeutic strategies.
