International Projects Unit

Scope

This procedure involves the management of applications for grants with international competitive funding from the bodies and entities of the Andalusian Public Health System in the province of Seville, the Biomedicine Institute of Seville (IBiS) and the professionals who carry out healthcare and/or research activities within them.

The scope of application will be international public competitive calls; non-competitive and private calls will not be subject to this procedure.

There are different types of grants managed by the Project Management Unit:

  • HR (grants from the Marie Curie programmes [individual fellowships and networks], as well as ERC grants)
  • Individual or collaborative projects (small, medium and large scale)
  • COMPLEMENTARY ACTIONS (COST actions; networks of excellence; coordination and support actions)
  • INFRASTRUCTURE

The various funding bodies offer multiple funding possibilities:

  • Weekly information on the calls for proposals published in the funding opportunities bulletin of the network of managing foundations.
  • Analysis of various funding opportunities with the funding opportunities finder tool.
  • Promotional activities.
  • Analysis of work programmes (both draft and final).
  • Personalised meetings with researchers and research groups.
  • Conferences for the presentation of calls for proposals or training (FISEVI’s own or coordinated with the International Projects Office of the Progress and Health Foundation).
  • Adaptation of the proposal to the formal requirements established in the regulatory conditions.
  • Creation of the appropriate consortium for the proposal, with the collaboration of the Technology
  • Transfer Unit.
  • Preparation/revision of the grant budget.
  • Preparation/revision of the parts of the proposals that are related to the area of expertise of the Project
  • Management Department (impact, management, consortium description, dissemination and communication, and market analyses, among others).
  • Preparation/review of formal documents: application, report, CV, centre authorisations, Research Ethics
  • Committee certificate or any other document required by the call in question.
  • Statistical and methodological support through the Methodology and
  • Statistics Unit.
  • Advice on the preparation of the strategy for the protection, transfer and exploitation of the results and the search for business partners, with the support of the Technology Transfer Unit.

The services of each unit during the proposal preparation phase are listed below:

Technology Transfer Unit 

  • Proactive search for calls for proposals.
  • Search and recruitment of researchers interested in proposals submitted by the sector.
  • Search and recruitment of business partners.
  • Review of transfer aspects (e.g. protection of industrial property, ownership of results, etc.), marketing (e.g. market study, sales projection, competitive analysis, business plan, etc.) and the role of FISEVI in the design and strategy of the exploitation plan for the project results.
  • Review of other innovation aspects.
  • Review, negotiation and signing of the consortium/collaboration/subcontracting agreement with the company(ies).

Project Management Unit: 

  • Proactive search for calls for proposals.
  • Search and recruitment of researchers interested in participating in international proposals under development.
  • Search and recruitment of partners.
  • Review of general aspects of FISEVI’s participation in the project, administrative aspects and financial report (e.g. calculation of costs/personnel working hours, compatibility of researchers to be assigned, amortisation of equipment, subcontracting, indirect costs, etc.).
  • Support for researchers to ensure they present applications in due time and proper form.
We monitor the approval process up to the signing of the grant agreement or publication of the grant resolution.
  • Drafting and/or review and signing of the Consortium Agreement, which must be ideally signed before the start of the project and no later than six months after the start of the project.
  • Review of the key aspects of the project with a view to participation in the project kick-off meeting.

Implementation procedures:

  1. Sub-contracting; recruitment of personnel; specific use of resources made available (RMA).
  2. Amendments to the grant agreement; review of the consortium agreement.
  3. Ethical aspects (e.g. those concerning the approval of study protocols resulting from the implementation of project work packages).

Concerning the implementation of the project activities:

  1. Support for the research group in preparing project deliverables (timetable, partners’ contribution, quality criteria).
  2. Support for the research group in designing and implementing measures for the dissemination of project results.
  • Preparation of time sheets
  • Carrying out of financial audit processes
  • Drawing up of the justification reports (FORM C for European Commission funding)
  • Preparation of the final report
