The Foundation for the Management of Health Research in Seville (FISEVI) took part in the REGIC 2026 Annual Conference, held on 1 and 2 October at the Conference Centre in Cádiz.

The event, organised by the Network of Entities for the Management of Clinical, Hospital and Biomedical Research (REGIC) with the collaboration of the Cádiz Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (INiBICA), brought together participants over two days to share knowledge, experiences and tools across some of the key areas of biomedical research management.

The programme included six specialised workshops focusing on international and national projects, human resources, clinical research, financial and economic management, as well as new partnerships and opportunities for collaboration between organisations.

Topics addressed included the management of international projects under Horizon Europe, the preparation, assessment, monitoring and reporting of national funding programmes, strategic communication, and the attraction and retention of research talent, as well as patient involvement in clinical research.

Particular attention was also paid to collaboration between organisations and networks within the research ecosystem, with a session dedicated to REGIC’s new partnerships and the identification of synergies with organisations such as the Platform for the Promotion and Innovation of Industrial Capacities within the Spanish National Health System and their Effective Transfer to the Productive Sector (ITEMAS), the Alliance of Severo Ochoa Centres and María de Maeztu Units (SOMMa), and the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers and Scientists Abroad (RAICEX).

One of the highlights of the event was the REGIC Presentation of Good Practices in Research Management, where six initiatives previously selected by the Evaluation Committee were presented. Their leads presented the proposals to the attendees, who had the opportunity to learn first-hand about a range of experiences and solutions applied to research management.

The second day focused on two strategic issues for the future of biomedical research. The first round table, entitled “From compliance to value: data as a new driver of clinical research”, addressed the challenges involved in developing institutional models that enable research based on data to be conducted securely, interoperably and with the potential for reuse.

This was followed by the round table “Supporting the teams that sustain the biomedical R&I system: wellbeing, career development and professionalisation of research management staff”, which focused on the conditions and tools needed to strengthen the teams responsible for research management, including the development of a REGIC toolkit for the healthy management of research management staff.

For FISEVI, attending the event provided an opportunity to learn about new methodologies from other organisations, share knowledge and strengthen collaborative relationships with research management professionals from across Spain.

FISEVI’s participation in the REGIC 2026 Annual Conference forms part of the Foundation’s commitment to the continuous improvement and professionalisation of health research management, promoting knowledge exchange and the creation of networks that can help facilitate the development of research and innovation projects and maximise their impact.
