Two IBiS Projects Receive ITEMAS Quality Seal for Excellence in Biomedical Innovation
Share on:
The innovative initiatives OTOVIRT 2.0 and DUNAMYS have received the prestigious Quality Seal awarded by the Plataforma de Dinamización e Innovación de las Capacidades Industriales del Sistema Nacional de Salud (ITEMAS) by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII).
OTOVIRT 2.0, a project led by researcher María Amparo Callejón Leblic, focuses on the creation of a new haptic simulator and a cost-effective computational pipeline designed to facilitate training in virtual surgery within the field of otolaryngology.
The second awarded project, DUNAMYS, directed by researcher Elena de la Torre Madrid, centres on the preclinical development of compounds that have shown remarkable efficacy both in vitro and in vivo against multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukaemia.
The award of the ITEMAS Quality Seal recognises the quality, maturity, and high potential impact of these innovations. Furthermore, both projects have benefited from the “Support for Transfer (Spin-off)” service, as well as from a report containing specific recommendations for project improvement.
The Technology Transfer Unit FISEVI / IBiS (OTT) has supported the promotion of both projects through its advisory work, contributing to their submission to the selection process for this recognition, which reaffirms the Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) as a benchmark centre for biomedical innovation at both national and international levels.
The ITEMAS Innovation Project Support Programme is the core of ISCIII’s healthcare innovation platform, which aims to promote high-impact, high-quality health innovation projects to accelerate their implementation within the National Health System and their delivery to patients.
The Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) is one of the 26 funded units that work collaboratively to achieve the objectives of ITEMAS through the development of a strategic plan and the provision of a portfolio of services for innovators and researchers. Additionally, during the 2024–2026 period, IBiS, together with the Institut de Recerca de Sant Pau, is coordinating one of the platform’s committees — the Innovation Observatory Committee.
