Last Wednesday the 24th, coinciding with World Cancer Research Day, representatives of the Asociación Palmerina Contra el Cáncer La Vida visited the facilities of the Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) to take part in the institutional act of the donation. The contribution of €6,000 will be allocated in full, through our foundation and at the express wish of the association from Huelva, to the group led by Dr José Antonio Pérez Simón, “Cell Therapy and New Therapeutic Targets in Onco-Haematology”. Among many other lines of research, this team works on Cell Therapy, including CAR-T therapy.

During the visit, the association was welcomed by Dr Pérez Simón himself and by members of FISEVI’s Legal Advisory Unit, formed by Amalia A. Villalobos Gómez (head) and Jesús Ordóñez Cabello (unit technician). They all underlined the importance of collaboration from entities such as this association, through various social initiatives with society, which represent a fundamental support to promote biomedical research and to ensure the continuity of projects seeking to develop new therapies and improve the prognosis of these diseases.

The visit once again highlighted the strong commitment to research shared by FISEVI, IBiS, and this collective itself, emphasising the value of raising public awareness about the importance of scientific progress and giving visibility to the work of associations, researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and their families.

FISEVI, IBiS and the research group on Cell Therapy and New Therapeutic Targets in Onco-Haematology deeply appreciate the contribution received, which provides a key boost to continue advancing in projects of high research potential.
