The hospital, together with the Foundation for the Management of Health Research in Seville (FISEVI) and the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS), is today holding the First Conference on Clinical Trial Management, aimed at providing researchers with methodological tools and promoting high-quality research.

Today, Tuesday 20 May 2025, the First Conference on Clinical Trial Management is taking place in the Aula Magna of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. The event is organised by the hospital itself in collaboration with the Foundation for the Management of Health Research in Seville (FISEVI) and the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS). It coincides with International Clinical Trials Day and is scheduled from 08:45 AM to 02:00 PM

The main objective of the conference is to provide methodological tools and practical knowledge to professionals involved in the management of clinical trials, including both established and early-career researchers, study coordinators, data managers and trial administrators. Over one hundred participants have registered to attend this training event.

The programme includes contributions from professionals from various hospitals across the province of Seville, such as the Virgen Macarena, Virgen del Rocío, and Virgen de Valme university hospitals, as well as representatives from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS). Topics to be addressed include innovative new therapies, patient recruitment, data protection, funding, innovation in trial management, and the commercial transfer of new healthcare products and innovations.

The importance of clinical trials is reflected in data provided by the Virgen Macarena University Hospital (HUVM), which currently has 759 active studies underway. In 2024 alone, the hospital secured 46 competitively funded research projects amounting to a total of 5.2 million euros. Furthermore, 26 new observational studies have been launched, along with 6 projects focused on the development of innovative medical devices.
