The Asociación Niebla Contra el Cáncer “La Luz” has made a donation to the Fundación para la Gestión de la Investigación en Salud de Sevilla (FISEVI), earmarked for the Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) and, specifically, for the research group Cell Therapy and New Therapeutic Targets in Onco-Haematology.

This contribution was made in the context of an outreach event on the CAR-T Project, one of the research lines pursued by the aforementioned group. The event was held at the Casa de la Cultura in Niebla (Huelva) and organised by the local association with the aim of bringing scientific advances closer to the public and encouraging social support for biomedical research.

The event featured the participation of researchers Estefanía García Guerrero, María Isabel Lara Chica and Elena de la Torre Madrid, who clearly and accessibly explained the work carried out at IBiS. They addressed key issues such as new indications for CAR-T therapy, strategies to train the immune system in the fight against cancer, and the role of vectors in this type of innovative treatment.

At the end of the event, the Association “La Luz” presented a financial donation, which will be channelled through FISEVI to support the development of the CAR-T Project by the IBiS group on Cell Therapy and New Therapeutic Targets, thereby reaffirming the commitment of the Asociación Niebla Contra el Cáncer “La Luz” to scientific and biomedical research.

FISEVI and IBiS wished to express their gratitude not only for the financial contribution made by the association, but also for the invitation and warm welcome extended to the participating researchers, as well as for the attendance of all those who took part in this charitable initiative. They highlighted the importance of scientific outreach and public engagement in continuing to make progress in the fight against cancer.
