Our colleague Melisa González Acosta, from the Methodological and Statistical Support Unit of FISEVI, was awarded Premio Andaluz a la Mejor Trayectoria Académica

Fundación Unicaja, University, Research, and Innovation Department of the Junta de Andalucía, and the Academia de Ciencias Sociales y del Medio Ambiente de Andalucía awarded, on Monday, 24th February, 2025, the recognitions for the fifteenth edition of the Premio Andaluz a la Mejor Trayectoria Académica, which honors seven undergraduate or master’s students with the best academic records and résumés in various fields of knowledge.

The President of the Fundación Unicaja, José M. Domínguez; the President of the Academia de Ciencias Sociales y del Medio Ambiente de Andalucía, Antonio Pascual; the General Director of the Fundación Unicaja, Sergio Corral; the Rector of the Universidad de Málaga, Teodomiro López; and the General Secretary of Research and Innovation of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Posadas, presented the seven awards during a ceremony held at the Fundación Unicaja Cultural Center in Málaga.

In its press release, the Fundación Unicaja highlighted interesting data about this year’s edition of the award, such as the fact that a total of 172 applications were received from universities across the eight Andalusian provinces, or that 68% of the submissions were from women, who also formed the majority among the finalists and winners of these recognitions.

One of the awardees was Melisa González Acosta, our colleague from the Methodological and Statistical Support Unit of FISEVI, who was recognized with the Premio Andaluz a la Mejor Trayectoria Académica.

Melisa, who holds a Double Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the Universidad de Sevilla (US), dedicated this award to her family, her university, and FISEVI, as part of her professional training in statistics has been carried out at our foundation.

Our warmest congratulations to all the winners, especially to our colleague Melisa.
