Sophie Monteau, Head of the International Project Management Unit, and Carlos García, Head of the Clinical Trials Management Unit of the Fundación para la Gestión de la Investigación en Salud de Sevilla (FISEVI), recently visited the Lilly Spain headquarters in Alcobendas, Madrid, on behalf of the organization. The meeting was described as key to further promoting collaboration between the two organizations in the field of clinical research.

During the day, meetings were held with two strategic areas of Lilly. First, with the global Clinical Capabilities team, responsible for the design, analysis, and results of Lilly’s international clinical programs. Among the topics discussed were the recent change in European clinical trial regulations, Spain’s position as a competitive destination for clinical research, and the joint experience in the EZEF and LAKI studies. The opportunities offered by primary care as a new setting for clinical research were also discussed, a line of research with great potential to expand the scope of studies.

The second part of the visit included a meeting with the local Investigator Engagement Spain team, focused on optimizing the experience of researchers and centers participating in trials. Initiatives such as the integration of Diraya into monitoring processes, the rSDV (Remote Source Data Verification) pilot, training of principal investigators in the new GCPs (Good Clinical Practices), as well as improving recruitment materials and the efficiency of study start-ups, all of which are key elements for increasing Spain’s competitiveness compared to other countries, were discussed.

This meeting serves to strengthen ties between sponsors and regulators, recognizing Spain as a strategic and highly attractive region for the development of clinical trials thanks to its network of professionals, healthcare infrastructure, and consolidated research experience.

With this meeting, FISEVI continues its commitment to consolidating strategic alliances with leading international organizations, contributing to the growth and quality of clinical research in Andalusia and throughout Spain and Europe.
