The Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) and the Fundación para la Gestión de la Investigación en Salud de Sevilla (FISEVI)  attended the 3rd Conference of the ISCIII Platforms for R&D&I Support in Biomedicine and Health Sciences, held from 27 to 29 October 2025 in Salamanca, with the Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Salamanca (IBSAL) acting as host institution.

The event, organised by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), brought together representatives from the three major national platforms—ITEMAS, SCReN, and Biobanks and Biomodels—with the aim of promoting cooperation, the exchange of experiences, and the consolidation of biomedical research at the national level.

The IBiS forms part of all three platforms through its integrated nodes—Biobanks and Biomodels, Clinical Research Support (SCReN), and Promotion and Innovation of the Industrial Capabilities of the National Health System (ITEMAS)—thereby reinforcing its role within the national structures supporting biomedical research.

Participation by IBiS and FISEVI in the conference strengthened their institutional presence, enabled the exchange of experiences with other research centres, and consolidated their position within the national health R&D&I ecosystem. In addition, the meeting served to establish new strategic contacts and explore collaboration opportunities within the framework of the three platforms.

Several members of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (HUVR) and IBiS took part in various sessions as speakers and moderators. Noteworthy contributions included those of Ángel Chimenea Toscano, Deputy Medical Director of HUVR and Coordinator of the Andalusian Health Research and Innovation Strategy (EIISA); Sandra Leal González, Head of the Innovation, Operations and Outcomes Department and Technical Coordinator of the ITEMAS Platform at IBiS; and Clara María Rosso Fernández, Coordinator of the Clinical Research and Clinical Trial Support Unit (UICEC-HUVR) and Technical Coordinator of the SCReN Platform at IBiS.

The conference was attended by more than 400 professionals from the biomedical field, including representatives from major European infrastructures such as the European Research Infrastructure for Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources (BBMRI-ERIC), the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN), and the European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (EATRIS). The event has thus established itself as a key meeting point for researchers, managers, and organisations supporting health research.
